AS engineers  developed a 4U Industrial Computer platform that could be configured to suit a number of different applications – the installation of multi monitor cards for control systems or intelligent serial I/O cards for down stream automation devices.

It was imperative that the systems were identical every time as the wrong installation position of serial card made the I.P addresses change. Also the unit had to be qualified with the latest Automation software. So even a BIOS change could not be tolerated. The units also needed to be powered by 110VDC. This needed a modification to the power supply which AS undertook. The unit was also installed near heavy switch gear and high voltage electrical gear. So EMC and vibration were critical. AS designed a special anti-vibration mount for this project.

In addition to the customised configuration the machines were also required to reflect the global brand of the company. This meant having the machines sprayed in the corporate colours with the company logo silk screened on the font panel.

AS are a Lenovo OEM and a HP OEM providing custom servers and OEM roadmap solutions not available on the channel market. This with our Microsoft embedded membership helps provide a locked down and secure platform.

Animal provides a full range of rugged embedded computing systems particularly suited for rolling stock applications covering in-vehicle computing, wayside monitoring, Advanced Driver Assistance Sysyem (ADAS), in-vehicle surveillance, online diagnostics, Passenger Information System (PIS), Media and Entertainment System (MES), mobile in-vehicle communication, pantograph inspection and any AIoT/Industry 4.0 applications in harsh environments.

AS provide a customised 1U,2U and 4U server for use as a Unified Messaging/ IVR platform.

The prime driver with this project was to reduce the amount of work carried out by the customer in terms of purchasing, integration and support. AS worked extremely closely with their engineers to not only develop a hardware platform but to also document a very customised installation of Windows Server.
